Excel Templates#

Testing equipment is a vital element of quality assurance. It must be ensured that all testing equipment comply with applicable norms and standards and deliver reliable measurement results, which can be used for decision-making. One aspect of this is the regular calibration of the testing equipment that needs to be monitored and actively managed.

Some testing equipment require specialized training of the operating personnel, meaning that the testing equipment capability examination cannot be limited only to the technical performance features such as linearity, accuracy, stability, traceability, and repeatability but also must include the users of the testing equipment.

Implementation#

It is straightforward to implement a basic testing equipment management in Allegra. Proceed as follows:

  1. Define a process type “Testing Equipment.”

  2. Configure the editing mask for this process type so that it contains all the attributes required for the testing equipment monitoring, such as a calibration date, a location, a testing equipment category, a device or inventory number, etc. You can also enter attributes in the description field if you do not need to see them as separate columns in the process overview later.

  3. Define a new workspace type for testing equipment management and create a workspace of this type.

  4. Now, in the new workspace, create a process for each testing equipment of the type “Testing Equipment.” Assign the person responsible for the testing equipment as the handler, who will then also be reminded of pending actions.

A testing equipment responsible person can regularly inform themselves via an appropriate search in the process overview about which devices will need a testing equipment capability examination in the near future.
