Finding Items#
In an Allegra database, there are eventually many thousands of items. Using filters, you determine which items you see in the item browser.
You define the items to be displayed by selecting and applying a filter. The way the resulting items are presented is determined by the current view. The current view is based on a view plus a filter to display the desired items in the item browser.
You can apply filters
using the filter history
with the navigation workspace on the left
through links from the cockpit
with AQL expressions in the full-text search at the top right
with the filter button in the context menu bar
You can manage filters
via the context menu in the navigation workspace on the left
via the item navigator button in the main menu
with the filter button in the context menu bar
via the administrator app, if you have access to it
When you apply a filter, the current view is used for displaying the items. You can link a filter with a view. In this case, the associated view of the filter becomes the current view, and the items are displayed as defined by the associated view.
If the current user has linked a different view with a filter, this takes precedence over the filter-view assignment by other users.
