Embedding Attributes#

You can embed attributes of the current document or document section into a document text. This allows you to display all metadata of a document, such as responsible and status, within the document itself.

This function is also helpful when creating documents that are largely identical and differ only in some sections. Examples of such documents include project proposals, project orders, project manuals, and process descriptions. You can precisely define who can change which metadata through roles.

To insert an attribute into a document section, edit the text of the section. Click on the D button in the toolbar, as shown below, to open the attribute selection and embed an attribute. You will only see the attributes that are visible on the editing mask of the corresponding item type.

When selecting the attribute, you can determine whether you want to derive the value of the attribute from the document or from the document section you are currently editing (context).

You can use wiki-inline templates to define how an embedded attribute should be displayed in the wiki (see Wiki Inline Templates).
