Embedding items#
You can embed data from other items, such as the title or the description, into a document. If the embedded item changes, the change is reflected immediately in the referencing document.
Embedding items is helpful
for meeting minutes, to include items from a topic store or to create action points
for managing requirements, reusing requirements and keeping traceable requirements separate from the documents in which they are used
The wiki editor action menu#
The way an embedded item is displayed is controlled by an HTML template.
To embed an existing item into a document section, edit the section’s text. Click button F in the action menu to open the item selection and embed an existing item.
Creating and referencing items from text#
With button E in the toolbar, you can create an inline element from selected text in a single step. This is very helpful when you write a meeting minutes document and want to create and assign tasks directly, which you can then track until they are completed.
It is also helpful when you write a requirements document and want to mark parts of the document as a traceable requirement while writing.
Using wiki inline templates, you can define yourself how an embedded item should be displayed in the wiki (see Wiki inline templates). For example, you can give security-relevant items a suitable color or another kind of marking.
