Efforts

Any number of efforts can be assigned to items. Efforts are used to record work and material costs. Efforts are recorded per item in accounts and can be tracked in hours, days (work), or in a freely selectable currency (material costs).

Requirements

In order to assign efforts to an item within a specific workspace, the following prerequisites must be met:

• You must be logged in as at least a workspace administrator to initially enable effort tracking.

• You must have access to a workspace type that has the option “Efforts for Workspaces” enabled.

• The workspace type being used must have the “Efforts for Workspaces” option enabled.

• The specific workspace must have “Labor” and/or “Material Costs” enabled.

Workspace Settings for Efforts

Additionally, the following settings can be configured through the workspace configuration:

• Restriction of available accounts for effort booking per workspace. Any number of accounts can be added under “Customization” for selection.

• Definition of currency and currency name for effort booking.

• Definition of a default account for effort booking. This account is preselected automatically when a user logs an effort.

• Setting the time booking interval (e.g., 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day).

Attention

The time booking interval setting is currently under development and not yet publicly available.

Hint

Child workspaces can inherit these settings. This means you do not have to configure them individually for every child workspace. To do this, click “Inherit Effort Settings” in the child workspace configuration.

Item-Specific Settings for Efforts

In addition to workspace-level settings, the following can also be configured directly on items:

• The default account defined in the workspace settings can be overridden for each item. The following options are available:

  • Based on the workspace setting (default, uses the workspace’s default account)

  • Based on last selection (overrides workspace setting)

  • A custom selection (overrides workspace setting)

Hint

These settings apply to all editors of this item. They can be restricted by roles so that only specific users can make these changes.

Recording Efforts

There are multiple ways to record efforts through the user interface:

• Via the tab navigation in the item’s input mask.

• By right-clicking an item in the item browser and selecting “Log Effort”.

• Via stopwatch: Click the “Play button” in the item’s input mask.

Hint

You can use the stopwatch to track time for multiple items simultaneously.
