System roles & user interface

System roles & user interface#

sysman sysadmin

Many users do not need all the features Allegra offers. Through a system role with reduced functionality, you keep the user interface lean.

Each system role defines which controls (menu items, navigation areas, etc.) are available. As an administrator, you set the highest system role each user may assume. The user can switch to a lower level themselves, but not beyond the one you set.

To edit system roles:

  1. Go to Administration > Users & Groups > System Roles.

  2. You see a matrix of system roles and their associated menu items and views.

  3. Enable or disable controls using the checkboxes.

The predefined system roles (see table below) are read-only. Custom system roles override the permissions of a full user. If you remove a custom system role, the user adopts the settings of the “Full user” role.

You assign the highest assumable system role in the user administration (see Managing regular users).
