Managing guest users#

sysman sysadmin

You can configure Allegra so that users register themselves either as regular system users or as guest users. Guest users have only limited access: they create items but can see and change only their own.

Managing guest users is essentially the same as for regular users (see Managing regular users) — with the differences listed below. You manage guest users under Administration > Users and groups > Clients.

Registering guest users by email#

You allow people to create items by email. If the email comes from an authorized domain, Allegra automatically creates a new guest user. The system attempts to derive the first and last name from the email. The automated reply contains a link to the new item and a link to register — even when self-registration is otherwise disabled.

Permissions for guest users#

You cannot assign roles directly to guest users. They inherit their permissions from a group to which they belong.

Functions available to guest users#

Guest users may only:

  • view a list of their open and closed items

  • create new items

  • add comments to their own open items

  • close their own items

LDAP support for guest users#

There is no LDAP support for guest users.
