Custom lists

Custom lists#

sysman sysadmin

There are item attribute types that offer a selection of predefined entries. You create any number of custom lists. Custom lists carry no specific application logic. You provide them globally or per workspace.

Allegra knows five kinds of custom lists:

  • simple selection list

  • expandable selection list

  • multiple-selection list

  • expandable multiple-selection list

  • cascaded selection list

The cascaded selection can be complex. Allegra provides implementations for a parent-child list, a list with one parent and two children, and a parent-child-grandchild list.

You assign custom lists to custom attributes of the same type. You assign different lists to the same attribute in different workspaces — for example, you define a general customer list and use a separate customer list in each workspace.

You provide all custom lists either globally or workspace-specific.

  • Custom lists: You add custom lists and assign them to custom attributes of suitable item types.

  • Exporting custom lists: You export custom lists as a specially formatted XML file and import them into another Allegra instance. Only self-defined global lists can be exported — not standard lists such as status or item type.

  • Importing custom lists: You import custom lists from a specially formatted XML file — either from another Allegra instance or created manually.

  • Import rules for lists: Rules apply to the import when lists that already exist are imported.
